Many efficient facilities use the same line for multiple products. Shared equipment does not answer the certification question by itself. The relevant facts include what is processed, how the equipment is used, the temperatures involved and how transitions are controlled.
Build an accurate equipment matrix
List product families against major equipment and transfer routes. Include occasional products, trials and contract work. The matrix should distinguish direct contact from physical proximity and show which systems are permanently connected.
Sequence and temperature matter
A cold dry blender presents different questions from a heated, recirculating liquid system. Production order can also affect the control plan. The certifier needs operating ranges and actual practices, not only equipment design ratings.

- Hot or cold contact conditions
- Open, closed or recirculating systems
- Cleaning chemistry, coverage and verification
Cleaning is assessed for its purpose
A sanitation program designed for allergens or microbiology may provide useful controls but is not automatically a kosher changeover procedure. Where a specific kosherization process is required, its parameters and supervision need to be defined separately.
Make scheduling controls durable
Verbal knowledge held by one scheduler is fragile. Approved sequences, hold points and notification requirements should be visible in planning or batch-release systems. Training must include the people who can change the schedule after hours.
